With a full day’s programme, speakers included sales, marketing and communications professionals plus keynote speaker Gerald Ratner of jewellery fame who held the audience in his hands as he amusingly recounted the demise of his once successful family business in the early ‘90s and his rise again a decade later with his online jewellery company with sales of £75 million per annum. Gerald shared his experiences as an entrepreneur twice over and passed on his business advice to conference attendees.
Break-out sessions at the conference allowed installers to talk to the speakers for further individual advice about marketing their businesses and also see working demonstrations of the latest automatic door operators from Global Automatics, of which Premier-Swing 85 designed for 99% of new and existing swing doors is the latest to have been launched.
There were also a lot of opportunities for installers to network at the conference. Philip Bedford, director of Slide Automatics in Brighton commented, “Overall the conference had some great speakers and it was very refreshing to network with other similar sized companies and like-minded businesses.” Mark Lockwood, director of A-Star Doors of Braintree said, “I was very impressed with Global Automatics as no-one else has held a conference like this. I have been in the industry 30 years and we’re always keen to buy British products like Global Automatics offer as well as the fast service they give too.”
Peter Mott of FASS Security of Chelmsford added, “We are always looking for the better priced products obtainable from Global Automatics. Their back-up support is first class and its brochures and telephone support are difficult to beat.” Brett Burgess of GT Automatics, Milton Keynes, was also very enthusiastic. “It was a very informative conference. We have not used Global Automatics before and it certainly instilled confidence in their products.”
As a result of this year’s success, Global Automatics is already planning a second conference for next year.
Del Thomas, managing director of Global Automatics was delighted with how the conference went and commented, “It was great to see such a high attendance of installers, some of whom were new to Global Automatics products. There was a real buzz at the conference and I feel sure that everyone gained and shared knowledge and business experience. We hope to meet everyone again at next year’s conference.”
