We use the internet for everything these days, whether you are a person or a company, most of everything we do now involves either partly using or completely using the web for the task at hand. Banking, shopping, school research, advertising and everything inbetween. And that point is important.
As more and more news is being read online, traditional newspapers and magazines are being read less and less. What this means for advertisers is that less people are viewing their ads on the traditional mediums hence, other avenues need to be sought to make sure the company’s adverts are seen by as many eyes as possible. The best way to do this is to get ads online.
In our industry, we have seen the rise of some prominent websites. Sites like my own, Aluminium Trade Supply and of course the impressive new MyTradeTV site. These sort of sites are getting thousands upon thousands of views and visitors per month and these numbers are growing month by month. What this means is that a great proportion of the industry and potential customers are seeing these sites on a regular basis. So what better place to put an ad when the traditional print adverts are losing their readership?
Mobile devices are also taking up a significant proportion of page views. Busy people who are out and about will look at websites on their mobiles and tablet computers when they dont have time to sit down at a desk. Think about it, how many people do you see now on a park bench or at train sat with a magazine or newspaper in their hand? no one, thats who, they’re all looking at ipads and smartphones!
A smart move will be to pull out of print advertising all together. Its dying quickly, trust me. People are reading their news, reviews, opinions and product releases online now instead of on paper. So why continue to spend your thousands of pounds worth of advertising budget on a shrinking medium? The proof that digital works is there to see. Look at this site, look at mine look at the Financial Times. In fact look at all the newspapers, all their sites have big ass ads on them. They know people are turning away from print and towards the pixel. I dare say that all you MD’s and budget planners get together and figure out a new online strategy to maximise the exposure of the online ads that are going to get your business and trffic you need.
