Who’s your Target Audience?
According to The Office for National Statistics figures, released on Monday morning, England and Wales has grown by 3.7m (7%) in a decade.
Figures released showed that over the last 10 years, the highest percentage of 16.4% were 65 years plus and nearly half a million over 90 year olds.
I love demographics (statistical characteristics of a population) and to think that with a little bit of time to research where, what and who, tailoring sales and marketing campaigns are so much easier.
Not surprising the figures showed the largest increase in population was in London, which grew by 12%, gaining more than 850,000 inhabitants and taking its total population to more than eight million.
The smallest growth areas included Barrow-in-Furness in the North West, which declined by 4% since 20.
Companies often get lost, throwing their budgets at meaningless sales and marketing material, which looks great, all singing and dancing and totally ignore who they have created it for!!
Don’t do anything till you really know who your audience is; where they live, what they like, their age, race, gender – in today’s world there is a wealth of information available on-line at the touch of a few buttons.
