Fresh from its success at the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Welsh Housing Awards, Nationwide Windows has once again triumphed. This time the company scooped the award for Excellence in Glazing at the National Home Improvement Council’s (NHIC) Annual Awards luncheon.
The luncheon, held on the 29th November at the Gladstone Library, One Whitehall Place, was this year a celebration of superior energy efficiency and lower home running costs. It was hosted by the NHIC’s President The Rt Hon Nick Raynsford MP, who commented: “Our thanks must go to everyone who has taken part this year, especially the finalists and runners up, the Category Sponsors and all those who have kindly contributed to this very special occasion.”
Sponsored by Certass, the Excellence in Glazing trophy and plaque was presented by Lord Dykes for the company’s work with Nottingham City Homes’ Decent Homes Programme. The company has so far replaced single glazed windows with ‘A’ rated double glazed windows in 13,700 properties as part of the £45m refurbishment programme which secured at least 500 jobs and created 45 apprenticeships.
The programme had a significant impact including a 50% drop in burglaries after fitting Secured by Design windows, just under £2m savings on tenant fuel bills, a saving to NCH of £241,800 due to reduced burglaries and an improved property SAP rating of 68.
