The annual GM Fundraising Golf Day was a complete sell out and yet again proved a huge success both during the day and with the evening event, helping to raise £8,828.50 in the process.
Held at the proven Telford Hotel and Golf Resort on 20th June, 2013, teams benefitted from better weather, after the 2012 event was nearly cancelled due to heavy storms. The overall winners were Ocean Swimming Pools on 92 points, just nudging out Haffner GB on count back, with Promac Group hot on their heels with 90 points.
Top individual on 42 points was Nick Leese from Haffner, who unsurprisingly was also awarded the person with the most dodgy handicap, followed by Lee Tilley of Patterson & Rothwell who amassed 41 points. Nearest the pin was Gary Torr of Dekko Window Systems, who soon be swapping his golf attire for lycra, as he joins the Hope 66 team for their epic challenge across the remnants of Route 66 in September.
The longest drive was won by Dave Haley of Eclectic Systems, the team resplendent in matching and branded Residence 9 golf shirts, while Richard Williams of Ocean Swimming Pools won the putting competition.
Gary Morton, chairman of GM Fundraising commented: ‘Thankfully the weather was kind for us and everyone enthused about the day. A big thank you to all those involved in what was a sell out day, but now we must focus on Hope 66, which we expect to help us to surpass an incredible £1mllion raised by GM Fundraising.’
