Securistyle, the well-established manufacturer of quality, innovative hardware for the window industry, is celebrating the huge achievement from members of the team who successfully completed theTrek50 Challenge on 23rd June. The challenge involved a 50 mile trek around the Pennines on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border, and this had to be undertaken in under 24 hours.
Whilst undeniably the team was able to bask in some beautiful scenery, some of the climbs involved totalled more than 2,400m, which is the equivalent to both Ben Nevis and Snowdon combined! Team members coped incredibly well however, achieving an average of 2.7 miles per hour. This certainly stood them in good stead for completing the challenge within the allotted timeframe, and in fact, they were delighted to exceed it, finishing in the fantastic time of 19 hours and 15 minutes.
What’s more, out of the 34 groups taking part, only 20 completed the course, and of those Securistyle was placed third, which was by no means an easy feat, as Glyn Jones, Sales Manager for Securistyle comments: “The whole team should be incredibly proud of their achievement, we have all put in the hours and taken training very seriously, so it’s fantastic to see it pay off. Thanks must also go to our support team for the driving, food, drink and encouragement along the way. Would I do it again? No, never again!”
The training, hard work, stiff joints and sore feet were ultimately worth it, as the team raised an impressive £2,300 for MedEquip4Kids, a charity which helps to improve the health of children and babies by providing equipment that would otherwise be unavailable from NHS resources. In the last 27 years, MedEquip4Kids has raised more than £12 million, which has helped some 79,000 children each year.
