Halo fabricator Sterling is celebrating its 20th year in business in 2013. The Warrington-based company was set up by Andy Wells and Neil Messenger in 1993 and specialises in the manufacture of high quality windows and doors, primarily for trade customers.
As Chairman Andy Wells believes, the company’s two decades of success can be attributed to its determination to keep things simple: “The combination of high quality components – Halo’s esteemed Eclipse system, Fuhr door locks, Mila Pro Linea twin cam espags etc – manufactured to high standards whilst keeping overheads under tight control means that Sterling provides customers with high quality products that represent fantastic value for money.
“Recent investment in new IT systems to include factory scan points and bar coding, has enabled our management team to focus on key parts of the company to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum, whilst quality and service levels to customers are continually improved. Ever since the business was founded we have benefited from continuous growth which has, in the main, come from recommendations and referrals, and we are thrilled to be celebrating our 20th anniversary, and recognised by our customers for what we do.”
Over the last two decades the company, which has been a Halo customer since 2005, has grown from five to around 65 employees, opened two new factories and invested in two Haffner machining centres, taking Sterling’s output to beyond 1200 frames per week.
“Our newest factory, which opened in late 2011, specialises in the manufacture of patio, bi-fold and composite doors, as well as our Aluminium systems, which demonstrates our ongoing long-term commitment to the market to the benefit of Sterling’s staff and customers alike.
“The UK’s fenestration industry has seen significant changes over recent years, but we have remained successful by recognising these changing demands, and understanding our role within the market – a manufacturer of high quality windows and doors that continue to be priced competitively, and we work tirelessly to achieve this. For Sterling the future looks extremely positive, and work is already underway for the next stage of our development. Watch this space!”
