CENSolutions at FIT

When All’s FIT And Done

CENSolutions is now the largest supplier of certification to the fenestration industry, with over 800 customers drawing on the team’s experience and expertise. Following the company’s recent presence at the FIT Show Wayne Rogerson, Joint Managing Director of CENSolutions, explains what they thought of the show and what the company has been up to since.   When All’s FIT and Done As the leading consultancy and test facility for the window, door and glazing industries, we wanted to show our support for the FIT show by offering advice and support on CE Marking and achieving certification to satisfy Secured by Design to visitors on the busy Wintech stand. This was our first year of supporting the FIT Show but we have already committed to partnering with Wintech again in 2016. We saw a steady stream of visitors across the three days and at the end of day one could already say the investment had been worthwhile with plenty of good quality leads. A Mark of Trust The CENSolutions team were on hand at FIT to offer their existing and potential customers independent advice on CE Marking – how to achieve it, the possible consequences of putting it off and the issues surrounding the policing of this legal requirement. We were also asked for advice on the range of certifications that, depending on the products manufactured, fabricators should have in place – there is clearly a lot of misinformation in the market that is leaving well-meaning companies vulnerable. We’ve tried to make it easier for manufacturers to understand with our three tier gold, silver and bronze CMS Marks. The Bronze package is the basic entry level scheme which ensures customers are compliant with the minimum requirements of BS EN 14351 and enabling products to be CE Marked. From July 2013, CE Marking was compulsory for products manufactured by all window, door and glass companies. The Silver package will ensure minimum compliance with EN 14351 as well as compliance with BS 6375, EN 12210, EN 1026 and EN 1027 for weather performance. Silver package customers also benefit from annual window and/or door testing – including the important requirement for windows and doors to be tested for weather performance – plusbi-annual auditing to satisfy the technical requirements of key specifiers. Customers that want to compete for contracts requiring Secured by Design can sign up for our Gold package which includes everything in the silver package with the addition of PAS 24:2012 or EN 1627-30 for enhanced security. The full monty CENSolutions has been working with Wintech, and ER Certification (ERC) for some time now to offer a package to fabricators seeking Secured by Design certification. CENSolutions provides consultancy and their own Gold CMS Mark to PAS 24:2012, Wintech provides the UKAS accredited testing to BS 6375 and PAS 24:2012 and ERC offer the required certification within its UKAS scope, as required by Secured by Design. Wintech is also our preferred accredited Test House for testing to the requirements of the harmonized European Standard EN 12150, EN 12600 and EN 1288, for thermally toughened glass. Michael Wass, Technical Director at Wintech adds: “Wintech is a fast growing test house providing a comprehensive range of testing services from our purpose built centre in Telford. We have tripled our window and door testing in the last 12 months alone as more companies realise the benefits of working with a reasonably priced and friendly test house with a focus on customer service. Working with CENSolutions and ER Certification means we can give our customers a complete solution for all their testing requirements to ensure they are ahead of existing and future legislation at all times. This is precisely why we asked both partners to join us on our stand at the FIT show – so visitors could have all their questions about CE Marking, Secured by Design and specific project test requirements answered in the one place.” Mike Gaillard and I established CENSolutions in 2003 to offer an improved service using a plain English approach to support window, door and glass companies through their third party certification requirements. All of our services are tailored to achieve exactly this and the FIT show provided us with a great platform to talk through our offering with existing and potential customers in the UK but also overseas. We also used the opportunity to update our existing customers on the extended scope we now offer including Level 1 Attestation for panic devices and fire resistant IGUs. Although it’s only in its second year the FIT show is clearly a success and gives our industry an opportunity to network and exhibit its wares, that in our opinion it has been missing for a while now, so we are proud to support it where we can. Getting fit post FIT In between following up on all the leads we got from the FIT show, the week after the show I took part in the National Three Peaks challenge with my brother Darren. It was a charity expedition to raise money for a cause close to my heart, the National Kidney Federation. Our mother had a kidney transplant in 1998 but sadly passed away in 2004, so to mark the 10 year anniversary of her passing, my brother and I wanted to get together to raise money for this important charity. We are both novice walkers so this was a big challenge for both of us. The National Three Peaks Challenge is a gruelling feat even for the adventurous. It involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. The target is to climb all of the mountains within 24 hours. We completed Ben Nevis in 5.15hrs and were on schedule when we arrived at Scafell Pike but just missed out on the 24 hour target due to bad weather hampering our navigation on Scafell. But we completed all three mountains and have so far raised £2705 which we are hoping we can push over the £3000 mark when all monies are in! We’d like to thank our three key sponsors for this challenge: Regalead, Wintech and Brouha, for their generous support, but we are of course looking to raise as much as we can for the NKF, so to offer your support and to help us meet our £3000 target, please visit www.justgiving.com/wayne-rogerson1 to sponsor Wayne and Darren – any size of donation would be very gratefully received.
