Michelle Orpe – Joining me is Martin Haworth, Director of Bison Frames, hello Martin thanks for joining us.
Martin Haworth – You’re welcome.
Michelle Orpe – Now you’re here today to talk to us about some of your new products but just start with telling us a little bit about Bison Frames and what you do.
Martin Haworth – Well we’ve been manufacturing PVC windows for round about 12 years now. PVC windows, doors, conservatories and so forth.
Michelle Orpe – Quite a while then.
Martin Haworth – Yes quite a while yes. And we’ve got to the stage now where we’re trying to keep ourselves interested and trying to move with the market and moving with one or two innovative ideas.
Michelle Orpe – So how difficult is it to keep up with the trends?
Martin Haworth – You have to stay ahead of the game. Everybody can make a while plastic square and chuck it out there in the name of a window but recently things have changed, colours are the new in thing, all different coloured windows. And to go with that, different ways of trying to put them together to try to authenticate the windows from years gone by.
Michelle Orpe – Ok tell us a bit about your latest products.
Martin Haworth – Recently we’ve come up with a Genesis Vertical Slider which is which is a slightly different take on the Vertical Slider by the nature of it being fully mechanical. It seems to be going down great with the people in conversation areas. It’s even been accepted to Grade 2 listed buildings. And the like it as well because it has quite a unique and quite a nice finish.
Michelle Orpe – And what are the specific features?
Martin Haworth – Well all the corners are fully mechanically jointed so especially with the wood grains it does look and feel like a timber window. We’ve got run through Sash horns which is authentic to its age old counterpart. The Heat Bottom Rail, it’s got a weather bar on the bottom as opposed to a gasket. It comes in a variety of different finishes. And it’s basically just the overall finish. It works. Everything about the window works. It looks like a timber window from years gone by.
Michelle Orpe – And who is it you distribute to?
Martin Haworth – We’ve got many customers nationwide. We have good relationships with quite a few companies who are spread out over the UK. We have a good relationship with a company down in Wales, several in Scotland, quite a few through England and we’ve actually got people phoning us up asking for the product by name now which is quite a good thing. In that instance all we’ll do is refer that enquiry onto whoever is in the area and let the service the appointment.
Michelle Orpe – It sounds like a big operation.
Martin Haworth – It’s not too big but it’s getting there. Like I said with the advent of the products that going to compliment the Genesis VS early this year, we will have a full suite then from flush face casenut window to a door to the Genesis Vertical Slider. So everything will go hand in hand and hopefully snowball from there
Michelle Orpe – Well it sounds like you’re definitely keeping up with the trends.
Martin Haworth – We like to think we are. There are one or two people doing a similar kind of thing to us so there’s obviously a demand for it. It’s just a case of who can do it best I suppose.
Michelle Orpe – So if there’s anyone out there who wants to get in contact…do you have a website?
Martin Haworth – Yes we have a website which is www.bisonframes.co.uk on there there’s quite a lot of information about us as a company, the products themselves, the ones that are out now, the ones that are going to come out and be out in the new year and also all the contact details should people want to make contact.
Michelle Orpe – well thank you so much for joining us today Martin and chatting to us about Bison Frames
