The Certass MTC Assessment Process

Nerve racking…or is it?

No, it doesn’t need to be.  The Certass team and your Assessors are here to support you through the MTC process. No one likes to be assessed; the last thing you want is someone observing you installing a window especially when you are experienced and have been installing windows for any length of time. However, there is no need to be unnerved by your Certass MTC Assessment. The MTC is for both surveyors and installers.  You can either be assessed as an installer; as a surveyor; or you can have a combined assessment. The Certass MTC Assessment is made up of three parts:

    • An online multiple choice knowledge assessment.
    • An on-site observation.
    • A professional discussion with the Certass Assessor.

If you have got some glazing installation experience then you will be fine, we will ensure -with your commitment- that your MTC Assessment will be successful.  If you get any questions wrong or can’t remember a certain measurement, it’s not the end of the world.  Our Certass Assessor will provide you with some guided learning questions so that you can research the answers from the technical handbooks provided by Certass and then get back to our assessor with the correct answers.  Your Certass assessor is there to support you every step of the way, so if you feel you need support, don’t hesitate to contact them.

Certass MTC On-Site Observation Day – A Contractor’s Feedback

Craig Yates of Glazerite PVCu Ltd successfully completed his Certass MTC assessment recently – well done Craig!  Prior to Craig’s booked on-site observation, Craig had a number of reservations about the formalities of the MTC process including “being observed by an official and being concerned with what his customer would think of him being assessed” but these concerns were soon put to rest when the Certass Assessor Mike Harris arrived on site.

Reflecting on his Certass MTC Assessment with Mike Harris, Craig wrote to tell us that Mike had “left a lasting impression” on him as “Mike saw pretty much straight away that I was uneasy with this situation” and “even though Mike was clearly there as a professional to carry out his role, Mike talked me through the process prior to starting, in a very calming manner, making me feel at ease with him. Throughout the rest of the inspection, Mike communicated very well”. “The other thing that left a huge impression on me is how Mike dealt with my customer, he demonstrated excellent people skills and I could see my customer felt very happy with the situation.”

Certass Admin Office Support – A Contractor’s Feedback

Craig went onto say that his dealings with Certass in general from the Sales Team to the Certification Team have left him as an installer feeling reassured because from the first point of contact he made last year when speaking to Tom in sales and every point afterwards when he has needed to speak to any of our staff, he has had the same helpful, friendly reception. Craig told us “You’re great to deal with and that’s very reassuring to me as an independent installer.”

As you can see from Craig’s comments the Assessors at Certass are a friendly bunch, so don’t let the nerves get the better of you, book yours today!
