As any sales manager will tell you, winning new business in today’s market is not easy; suppliers throughout the industry are working harder and harder to incentivise their existing customers to be loyal to them in the long term – and of course we are no different.
But the fact is that at Supalite we are winning major new customers all the time – our products are technically and aesthetically outstanding as those of who have looked at them and installed them will no doubt testify.
We have recently released our new Orangery roof to the market which has been really well received, and we have other new product variations ready for market.
But one of our real differentiators is our ‘Assisted Fit’ service – it is a really simple concept and is proving a real winner with new customers as well as some of our existing ones. What is our ‘Assisted Fit’ service? – simply this; when a new customer takes their first order we offer to send a full installation team to install it with them so that they can learn on the job from our experienced fitters. They can familiarise themselves with all the components and installation methods, can ask any questions they want to ask, and can learn best practice there and then on the site.
No call backs from poor installation
It is a service which is especially popular with the smaller companies and from our point of view it is great that they are willing to take it – it tells us that they are as enthusiastic as we are about the job being absolutely right from the outset. Learning best practice at the start can only be positive for them and encouraging for us to know that things will also be done right in the future. No call backs from poor installation will mean better referrals for them and the opportunity for future business, and it also helps to protect the reputation of what is still a fledgling sector within the wider industry.
With the market for solid tile roofs still being in its infancy it is really important that installers understand all the features of the product as a whole and the installation – being able to offer the ‘Assisted Fit’ service is proving a real bonus for our customers and ultimately everybody wins from it.
A real bonus for customers
It doesn’t matter whether it is a new-build application or a retro-fit, being able to offer this service is a real positive and something which helps Supalite stand out from the competition.
For us as roof system designer and manufacturer it feels like there are many great opportunities ahead. The market for solid tiled conservatory roofs is estimated to be around 1 million and as a sector we have not scratched the surface of that demand yet.
