lockbuster time again this month with the release of Marvel’s Ant-Man, a film that was dogged early on in production after it’s original director, Edgar Wright chose to leave the production to be replaced by relatively unknown director Peyton Reed. Marvel has had a fairly good run of form with recent releases Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Avengers franchise but for me it’s the lesser known heroes that seem to be providing more entertaining fare. Ant-Man isn’t a broadly known title, much like last years wildly popular Guardians of the Galaxy and a trait both films share is the nice balance between thrilling action and a sense of fun with nicely landed comic moments. Paul Rudd is a extremely likeable reluctant hero and a great supporting cast including Michael Douglas, House of Card’s Corey Stoll and the ever wonderful Michael Pena round things off nicely. With fantastic action set pieces, vfx and comic touches it’s well worth a big screen night out!
