MyTradeTV has launched a Podcast platform to offer customers and site visitors’ greater accessibility to up to the minute news. Michael Greenwood, Digital Technical Director has introduced this new information option on the company website, to enable visitors to gain access to industry news summaries in audio format.
Podcasts, the short-form audio files, entered mainstream communication forums when originally introduced by Apple through the iPod, and they have in fact now, been around for more than a decade. Although, Apple withdrew the classic version of its iconic product, the podcast itself is now resurgent as a fast method to gain specialist insights, drawing hard-core fans across many industries, all of whom want to listen to other people talk about, well, almost everything.
“Podcasts are in vogue and we want to ensure we cover every base when offering customers the broadest options possible when searching out a summary of the latest news. There’s a kind of renaissance occurring,” Michael commented. “As technology evolves, people want up to the minute, right now, with just about anything. Equally, as a professional team, we want to be able to offer access to the news in all its formats. Podcasts can be downloaded and listened to at any time, whether it’s before the start of the day, whilst travelling to a meeting or simply on the journey home.”
Repeatedly, we are told that the Internet is one of the greatest, inventions of modern man, it certainly is the greatest library in the history of man—immediate and infinite, with constant flux and expansion. In practice, though, many of us can feel the experience of the Internet as being more like a giant coffee table, gathering more and more information which is all important, useful and endlessly replenished on a daily basis. That can be a daunting prospect to review, which is why the MyTradeTV team intends to make access to relevant industry information straightforward and simple.
Michael continues, “Somehow, approach to Podcasts is different to other online mediums, as they can be stored and saved until a specific time to suit the listener. They give an opportunity for us to be productive almost without stealing time.”
Podcasts embody what is arguably the essential promise of the Internet: a means for surprising, revealing, but above all elevating encounters we have with people, things, opinions and ideas we didn’t previously know. If we listen to enough podcasts we are able to learn far more than we thought possible, in that they offer a simplified alternative of the Internet, for when we don’t actually have time for the Internet. Podcasts provide an almost unconventional access to the Web that removes the feelings of being overwhelmed by information when we are busy.
Simple and Straightforward
Smartphones and Bluetooth-enabled cars have made it extremely easy for people to listen into podcasting. Nowadays everything is simplified with the need to download a Podcast from iTunes onto a computer and then syncing it with an iPod completely eliminated. Instead listeners can simply grab a Podcast via the MyTrade.TV website and YouTube using simple steps to listen on any iPhone, android, tablet or computer they prefer.
Since the installation of a state of the art television and audio studio, instigated by Nick Padley, Creative Director, the company can offer the new production facilities as a base to record everything on-site to broadcast quality standard.
Visitors to the MyTradeTV site can simply listen to any new podcast content via embedded Soundcloud files or alternately subscribe via iTunes which will allow them to stream or download new content direct to their device.
Nick comments, “Ideally the quickest route to the new Podcasts will be via Soundcloud embeds, but it really is down to personal choice. Those who subscribe using iTunes or YouTube can also opt to listen to them via those routes.
Furthermore, the new ‘MyMediaStream’ gives visitors and investors greater interactive potential, as people generally have personal application or technical preferences when viewing or listening to something. Sometimes this can all just depend on their mood or situation. After all you can’t click through links whilst driving a vehicle but you could get stuck into an interesting industry audio interview or catch up on the latest news.”
Although initially there was considerable enthusiasm for Podcasts they faded in popularity due to the complicated technical steps needed to listen to them in a vehicle. Subsequently, Podcasts faded in popularity in the early 2000s. Streaming is a whiz nowadays also, thanks to wireless media, faster Wi-Fi and mobile data speeds.
The Personal Touch
Additionally, there is a personal touch to Podcasting which gives fans of the format, who listen using ear buds or headphones, a more personal connection than some other forms of new media.
Michael concludes, “Almost all modern forms of podcasts give an explicitly fast yet detailed encounter of news or information. We have developed the format to be listened to without being overlong; they are involved yet not intimidating. They nestle nicely alongside our other news and visual communication platforms.”
