Sustained growth in door panels at Hurst Plastics has prompted the company to further strengthen its installer business package. The company, which is the largest manufacturer of panels in the UK, achieved a third consecutive year of growth in door panels and is forecasting further growth as it approaches its new financial year.
Mark Atkinson, Hurst Plastics’ Sales and Marketing Director, explains: “The door panel may be a mature product, but Hurst continues to buck the trend and is maintaining a steady growth in this sector. Last year was good year for us in panels and we are projecting growth of around 3% next year, which surpasses industry-wide predictions for this product. In an era where many companies have abandoned the panels market, we are delighted to be investing and growing our brand to maintain our lead in the market.
“Our installer package is one of the most comprehensive installer support packages, which equips Hurst customers with the tools they need to promote themselves and sell to the homeowner. The next stage in the development of this package has been to fully integrate door panels into our ‘Hurst Live’ trade package. Customers will be able to access technical data, track and trace orders and configure, order and price door panels.”
The package already provides full marketing and sales support, including access to product photography, fully personalised product literature, point of sale material and lead generation via Hurst’s website. The integration of door panels within Hurst Live will further simplify the process of ordering door panels and enable installers to secure more sales.
Manufacturing an average of 2,000 panels a week in a dedicated panels factory at its 50,000 square foot site in Kingston-upon-Hull, the company credits its recent success to a rolling investment in the product and continued marketing support.
Hurst consistently expands its panels range to satisfy market trends and, in recent years, has developed a collection of bespoke door styles and introduced contemporary new colours to enable customers to further differentiate themselves within the market. With demand for triple glazing looking set to significantly increase over the next few years, Hurst made the decision to invest in a collection of exclusive triple glazed designs, which now accounts for over 20% of glazed feature panels sales.
Demand has also risen for door panel designs that mimic composite doors. Hurst has also upped production rates of its Modern Collection of contemporary, European-styled designs. With fresh, distinctive panels, every design is enhanced with stainless steel to cater for the more cosmopolitan end-user.
As homeowner tastes evolve, Hurst is anticipating an increased demand for panels in rich, fashionable shades such as Anthracite Grey. Hurst’s comprehensive range of coloured door panels now includes five woodgrains, plus around 12 foiled finishes as standard. The company also offers a totally unique digital glass printing service which enables installers to design bespoke glazing for customers.
