Sales Director Andy Green and Marketing Manager Mark Walker give their thoughts and reactions to what the FIT Show meant to Selecta and the mood within the camp following the show.
For Selecta, the timing of the FIT Show was perfect enabling them to not only promote new products to the industry but also to be able to have a chat with customers and others within the industry regarding their current and future developments.
Andy explained “We saw the FIT Show as the perfect opportunity to open Selecta up to the industry and not just to our existing customer base. Predominantly in the past, there hasn’t been much focus on the team, or Selecta family as referred to, the people who make things happen on a daily basis. No business is run by one person and it’s the family ethos and team effort that everyone will now start to see, through our marketing campaign and whilst we were at the FIT Show.”
“Since my appointment, I’d expressed the importance of promoting the team ethic and people getting the recognition they deserve, whilst also involving them more in the business. There was a fantastic effort from all involved with the FIT Show, from the shop floor upwards from the Selecta 5-a-side football team, the preparation of the stand products by the Lamination and Specialist Doors Departments to the logistics and transport. Then there’s the people who were on the stand, there is a tremendous amount of hard work that sometimes goes unnoticed and it’s these people that make it work and help us to be who we are today. Oh and by the way, Selecta won the 5-a-side football tournament which was another great team effort in difficult wet conditions!”
Andy continues “At the FIT Show the stand was very busy for the three days with excellent interest in our new sliding sash window and new range of composite doors. There was increased interest in our improved bi-folding door system, which we showcased in an aluminium foil and found that people actually thought it was an aluminium system! Our Advance 70 Chamfered and Sculptured System was as popular as ever and we welcomed a large amount of leads, not only from new customers but also from our existing customer base who had an opportunity to see the new products in their fullness for the first time.”
“We also used the FIT Show as an opportunity to discreetly show off our impending Flush Sash System, which received excellent reviews and so we are now looking forward to an August / September launch. All in all the show was a success for Selecta, not on from a new business point of view but from a PR and marketing perspective.”
On the Wednesday evening of the show, there was a Gala Dinner which the Selecta team attended. Not only did Selecta win the 5-a-side football tournament but their customer Craig Hanson of Pennine Retails Windows won the Master Fitter Challenge.
Mark Walker explains “Craig had entered the two previous events and had come close in 2014. It was definitely third time lucky as Craig swept the competition aside by winning every single category – a feat never achieved before, to become the Master Fitter Challenge winner for 2016. Everyone at Selecta are proud of his achievements and I’m sure you’ll see Craig featured in a few more press releases and adverts as we aim to share his success with the industry!”
Mark follows on with, “During the FIT Show I had many conversations with customers, fabricators, installers, suppliers, marketing experts etc. and what came across to me was that there was a good level of excitement and interest in Selecta and our products. They totally get who Selecta are in the market and our approach was deemed to be refreshing but exactly what Selecta was all about. There was a buzz about the whole show and a renewed confidence in the industry which Selecta seemed very much part of. There are exciting times ahead and ones that Selecta are all geared up and prepared for with optimism.”
Andy concludes “The International Centre, Telford has served the FIT Show well and we’re sure the move to the NEC will not spoil the intimate and friendly feel to the event by being in a larger venue. We have already booked our stand space for the 2017 show and again demonstrates our commitment to the industry and the event.”
