A solid roof manufacturer with the UK’s largest network of conservatory roof replacement installers has become the UK’s first replacement roof manufacturer to satisfy new guidelines.
Every manufacturer in the country should comply with the new LABC guidelines by September. But Guardian has already submitted their product for rigorous independent testing. This testing has to be completed with the BRE in London. This includes the use of WUFI software to measures the U value and the interstitial condensation risk. Guardian has passed and already received test certificates for both the UK and Scotland.
For Guardian Joe Kearney said, “Local authorities and private building control companies have a crucial role in managing quality standards in our industry. And we welcome the rigorous and transparent LABC guidelines that we expect them all to now work to.
“The regulators and guidelines combine to help our installers and their customers make smart decisions about the roofs they choose. These regulations are specifically designed to protect the homeowner.
“Many people ask us if we have LABC approval. It’s often one of the first our new installers ask us about Guardian Roof. And, their customers ask about it too. In fact, LABC approval can often be the difference between winning and losing business. It is that important.”
The newly re-issued guide clarifies how translucent conservatory roof with any solid roof systems should be replaced to achieve LABC Registered Details certification. The guide also outlines the conditions installers are expected to meet to ensure the structure complies with the Building Regs.
The guide covers specific advice about inadequate foundations that could move and cause settlement differences between the conservatory and the existing house. This can lead to cracks and water leakage. The guide also focuses on inadequate window and door supports to take the additional load of the replacement conservatory roof.
Joe adds,“We now have over 350 Team Guardian installers. Our own standards already meet the standards covered in the new LABC guide. But the guide will now become an integral part of our Team Guardian training and development.
If I was an installer, I’d insist on it. Just like customers should insist on meeting LABC standards as a basic necessity.”
“We will also insist on a whole raft of additional unique minimum standards too. We are the only UK manufacturer that supplies every component including the required insulated plasterboard. All required components are delivered to site for every installation. This ensures that the homeowner gets exactly what they are paying for.
“It’s the way we have worked from day one. It gives our installers and customers complete peace of mind.”
