Water-jet machinery to enhance cutting precision and reduce lead times
PWS Worksurfaces has invested £250,000 in a water jet machine, to improve the precision and detail of cutting stone and reduce lead times.
According to the company, the investment has been driven by a demand in ultra-compact materials such as Dekton, Neolith and Lapitech.
Last year, PWS celebrated the production of its 100,000th worktop, since the opening of its £10million facility in 2007.
Manufacturing manager at PWS Worksurfaces Jeremy Redshaw commented: “The new water jet significantly speeds up the manufacturing process, which previously was carried out with a saw and CNC at much slower rates to avoid fracturing. The investment reaps significant benefits for our customers, not only offering enhanced design features, but representing a reduction in lead time from seven to five days.
“As one of the most advanced worktop production facilities in Europe, this latest investment of £250,000 delivers a piece of kit that is not readily available elsewhere. It sets us apart as a centre of excellence to produce this type of work with ultra-compact materials, which we believe will be an essential element of our manufacturing prowess in the future.”
