Leading Kitchen manufacturer, Ideal Standard has teamed up with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), to launch a competition for architects and designers. The winning bathroom design of the future will win £5,000.
The idea behind the competition is for entrants to focus on possible future residential designs with a view to create a modern and original concept of how they perceive bathrooms will appear in 20 years time. Designers are asked to consider trends, lifestyle issues, sustainability and demographics.
Practical and realistic designs are requested with a “functional and economic grasp of a future generation” rather than ornate and complex visions of the future. As such, the entrants must base ideas upon a 6sqm space which must include WC, basin and washing facilities as well as bathing and showering.
A dimensioned plan must be included with each entry that incorporates illustrations on the appearance of the bathroom, reflecting its feel and performance within the home. An 800 word submission stating the reasoning behind the concepts must also be included.
Submissions should be sent as PDFs no later than January 31, 2017.
