The continuous improvement team at Synseal Group has been bolstered by two new experts, bringing with them experience from the automotive industry to help drive “lean” improvements.
Headed up by Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement, Steve Hill, the team has been created to lead the implementation of Lean Six Sigma methodology across the business, finding ways in which manufacturing processes can be conducted more efficiently and in keeping with the latest technology and trends.
Robin Harrison joined the team at the end of last year following a 10-year career in the automotive industry which encompassed quality, health and safety, and continuous improvement.
In Robin’s role as Continuous Improvement Project Manager, he will develop a culture of continuous improvement across the Synseal Group by introducing Lean Six Sigma methodologies to employees across the Synseal product range, which includes market-leading Masterdor timber doors and WarmCore warm aluminium systems.
“My motivation is to make Synseal the go-to supplier for quality, cost, delivery and innovation by using the world class systems that make the automotive industry the benchmark for all.
“There’s no reason why the high standards of quality we see in automotive manufacturing can’t be replicated in the fenestration industry – and we want to lead the way in developing these standards across our wide product range.”
Robin is joined by Continuous Improvement Engineer Dan Dixon, who has spent most of his career in continuous improvement covering a range of industries including automotive, furniture manufacturing and medical implant manufacturing.
Dan’s experience has led him to implement product and process improvement initiatives all across Europe. Yet somehow, Dan has managed to return to the exact same site he started at when Coats Viyella Meritina were based in Huthwaite in the early 90s, before Synseal turned the site into its headquarters at the turn of millennium.
